A good boost of vitamin C is a great way to kick-start your metabolism. My Metabolism Boosting Green Citrus Tea is an easy and healthy drink for your morning routine. I simply brew some green tea, and then add citrus juices to the mix. I like to use freshly squeezed lemon juice and grapefruit juice because they add tartness and sweetness that blend nicely together. Lastly, I add some raw honey or natural sweetener to make sure the tea is perfectly sweet. Jump-start your metabolism with my Metabolism Boosting Green Citrus Tea!

How Does Citrus Boost Your Metabolism?

Citrus fruits like lime, lemon, and grapefruit all have high levels of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps metabolize fat faster than any other vitamin or mineral, which makes citrus very helpful for weight loss. All citrus fruits are great for faster metabolism, however studies show that grapefruit is the best fruit of them all due to its very high concentration of vitamin C.

I love the sweetness and tartness that comes with using citrus! For more citrus goodies, try my Lightened-Up Lemon Coconut Cake!

Citrus for Green Tea

  • boiling water
  • green tea bag
  • fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
  • juice from ½ lemon
  • raw honey

How to Make Metabolism Boosting Green Citrus Tea

Pour the boiling water in a large mug (the mug should hold more than 2 cups of liquid). Add the honey and stir. To avoid bitter tea, let the boiling water and honey mixture sit for a few minutes so it can cool down to 165-170º F. Add the tea bag and allow to steep for 3 minutes. Discard the bag.

If you don’t like pulp, use a fine mesh sieve over the mug; otherwise, add the grapefruit and lemon juice to the tea.

Stir and enjoy this cleansing, reviving, tea!

Variations: To make a cold version, simply double the recipe and refrigerate until chilled.
