Why Use the Slow Cooker?

The slow cooker, or crock pot, is a wonderful kitchen appliance that everyone should have in their kitchens. It is a large electric pot with a lid, usually with two settings, low and high. Cooking dishes on low will take anywhere from 6-8 hours, whereas cooking on high usually takes 2-4 hours. The best part about a slow cooker is that you can set it and forget it. Barely any stirring is required and the whole process is very low maintenance.

A multitude of healthy dishes can be made in the crock pot. If you are new to slow cooking, please check out my Slow Cooker Cashew Chicken recipe!
